Brand Used Test
Lot 51:
Description
A rare, very early Remington Model 8 semi-automatic rifle, chambered for the .30 Rem cartridge and actually marked ’30-30-R’ on the receiver. This specific marking did not last very long due to obvious confusion with the already established Winchester loadings for the Model 1894. The rifle is crafted from blued or patinated steel and dark hardwood. The barrel is marked ‘MANUFACTURED BY THE REMINGTON ARMS CO. ILION, N.Y. U.S.A. BROWNING’S PATENTS OCT. 9, 1900. OCT. 16, 1900. JULY 3, 1902’. The receiver also bears serial number ‘8402 S’ with encircled ‘P’ proof marks. The checkered buttplate is marked ‘REMINGTON ARMS’.
Condition report:
The apparent condition is consistent with age and use, displaying significant finish wear, surface rust/patina, and light pitting on the metal components, along with numerous scratches, dents, and minor losses to the wooden stock and forend.
