Description
An S. Newhouse No. 6 bear trap, constructed from heavily rusted iron or steel, characteristic of a historical design used for large game. It features two powerful, serrated jaws, a central circular trigger pan, a heavy-link chain, and a substantial anchoring ring. The trigger pan is clearly marked “Nº 6” along with partially legible text below and around its edge, appearing to spell “CO…” and “…NY”, consistent with S. Newhouse’s known manufacturing and numbering.

Condition report:
The trap exhibits significant surface rust, pitting, and wear consistent with age and extensive use. All components appear structurally present and intact, and the mechanism, while stiff from rust, appears complete. No visible repairs or restorations.
