Description

A Colt Ulysses S. Grant Commemorative percussion revolver, dated 1971, designed in the style of an 1851 Navy model and chambered in .36 caliber. The revolver features a blued octagonal barrel marked “ULYSSES S. GRANT COMMEMORATIVE – NINETEEN SEVENTY ONE” and “ADDRESS SAML COLT NEW-YORK CITY.” The frame is vibrantly case-hardened, complemented by a silver-plated trigger guard and backstrap, and polished reddish-brown wood grips. Its cylinder is elaborately engraved with a naval battle scene and prominently marked “COLT’S PATENT No 3764” along with “ENGAGED 16 MAY 1843” (partially visible). The frame bears “COLT’S PATENT” and “U.S.G.” with matching serial number “3764” components visible throughout. The complete set is housed in a polished wooden presentation case with brass hardware, luxuriously lined in royal blue velvet, and embossed with the commemorative text and Colt logo. The case contains a blued steel powder flask, a brass bullet mold, a small green tin labeled “GAYER BRO’S CAPS COLT’S PISTOL,” and a small wrench-like tool.
