A Box of Fifty Winchester .32 S. & W. "Lesmok" Cartridges, "Picture Box" Style
Description
A vintage cardboard box of fifty Winchester .32 S. & W. Center Fire “Lesmok” cartridges, consistent with the “Picture Box” style identified in market research. Manufactured by the Winchester Repeating Arms Co. of New Haven, Conn., U.S.A., the printed paper labels prominently display “WINCHESTER” branding, the .32 S. & W. caliber, “Lesmok” powder, and 85 Gr. bullets. An illustration of a revolver is featured, with accompanying text indicating adaptation for Smith & Wesson, Harrington & Richardson, and Hopkins & Allen revolvers. Date codes, possibly “12-13” and “9-14” (September 1914), are visible on the labels. The box contains the full complement of 50 cartridges, each composed of brass casings and lead bullets.
Condition report:
The tan cardboard box is in worn condition, exhibiting significant creasing, tears, discoloration, and some partially obscured labels. The paper labels are fragile and show losses. The 50 cartridges inside display varying degrees of tarnish, green oxidation (verdigris), and discoloration, consistent with their apparent age and storage.
