FN Herstal 'Model Super' 12 Gauge Side-by-Side Hammer Shotgun, 30" Barrel
Description
A vintage side-by-side hammer shotgun by FN Herstal, identified by barrel rib markings “MECANISE PAR LA FABRIQUE NATIONALE D’ARMES DE GUERRE DE HERSTAL” and “- ACIER DECARBURE EXTRA B” (Decarburized Steel Extra B). The barrels are 30″ in length and feature blued steel, with engravings depicting a hunting scene and partial text “Model Super”. The elaborately engraved bright metal action complements the figured walnut stock and fore-end, which exhibit fine checkering. The underside of the barrels and breech bear the serial number “3505”, along with various proof marks including “CHOKE”, “12C” (indicating 12 gauge), “70” (indicating 70mm chamber length), and “ELG” in an oval.
Condition report:
The shotgun is in a condition consistent with its age and use. There is wear to the bluing on the barrels and to the wood finish on the stock and fore-end. Minor scratches, dents, and some localized finish loss are present on the stock. Crucially, there are cracks in the wrist of the stock. The elaborate engravings on the action and barrels remain clear and legible.
