Vintage Remington Arms-Union Metallic Cartridge Co. .38 Short Colt Smokeless Ammunition, 37 Rounds
Description
A vintage box of Remington Arms-Union Metallic Cartridge Co. .38 Short Colt Smokeless central fire metallic cartridges, containing 37 rounds. The printed paper label on the box’s top and sides identifies the contents as originally “50 CENTRAL FIRE CARTRIDGES” of “.38 SHORT COLT SMOKELESS, 125 GRS. BULLET,” manufactured by “Remington Arms-Union Metallic Cartridge Co., Union Metallic Cartridge Works, Bridgeport, Conn. U.S.A.” A side panel also features “Colt’s Patent Fire Arms Mfg Co.” with its rearing horse logo and the number “237.” The cartridges inside have brass casings and lead bullets, with headstamps clearly reading “REM-UMC .38 SHORT.” The cartridges appear complete within their original wadding.
Condition report:
The cardboard packaging is in fair to poor condition, exhibiting significant wear, fading, discoloration, and label tearing, particularly on the end panels. The cartridges show notable tarnishing and oxidation consistent with age.
