This lever-action rifle is identified as a Marlin Model 336-SC, chambered in .32 Special caliber, manufactured by The Marlin Firearms Co. of New Haven, Connecticut, U.S.A., established in 1870. The rifle features a 20″ blued steel barrel, receiver, and lever, complemented by a dark reddish-brown wooden buttstock and forend. Visible markings include “The Marlin Firearms Co. NEW HAVEN, CONN. U.S.A. EST. 1870” and “MODEL 336-SC 32 SPECIAL CAL.” on the barrel, a “JM” proof mark near the barrel/receiver junction, a serial number “320892” on the receiver tang, and “Marlin” embossed on the rubber buttplate. with a hairline crack present in the buttstock.
