Description
An antique Colt Model 1878 Double Action revolver, primarily constructed of steel or iron with checkered wooden grips. The barrel features markings including “COLT’S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD CT. U.S.A.” and partially legible patent dates such as “JULY 25. ’71,” “JAN. 19. ’75,” “MAY 19. ’80,” and “NOV. 19. ’84,” indicating a late 19th-century American manufacture. A circular “K” inspector’s mark is present on the frame, and the butt of the grip features a lanyard ring. The revolver appears mechanically complete and structurally sound.
Condition report:
The revolver exhibits significant surface wear, dark patination, pitting, and substantial loss of original finish, consistent with extensive age and use. The wooden grips show wear to the checkering.
