Winchester Model 1876 Lever-Action Repeating Rifle, Caliber .45-75 W.C.F., Serial No. 24598
Description
This lot features a very clean, rare and early Winchester Model 1876 lever-action repeating rifle, identified by a visible inscription on its tang, with serial number 24598. The rifle is constructed with blued steel components for the barrel and receiver, complemented by dark-stained wooden furniture for the buttstock and forend. A brass loading gate plate is engraved “45-75 W.C.F.,” indicating its caliber as .45-75 Winchester Center Fire. Further barrel markings read “WINCHESTER’S-REPEATING ARMS. NEW HAVEN. CT.” and patent dates “MARCH 29, 1866. OCTOBER 16, 1860.” Accompanying the rifle is a modern set of Lee Precision reloading dies for “45/75” caliber, presented in a clear plastic case and including a handwritten label detailing load specifications.
Condition report:
The firearm is in fair to good vintage condition. It exhibits notable wear to the bluing, various surface scratches, and numerous dents and areas of finish loss on the wooden elements, particularly the buttstock.
