Description
A Winchester Model 1873 Lever Action Rifle, featuring a darkened steel barrel and receiver, paired with a dark stained wood buttstock and forend. The barrel is engraved “WINCHESTER’S REPEATING ARMS, NEW HAVEN, CONN. U.S.A. – KING’S IMPROVEMENT PATENTED MARCH 29. 1866. OCTOBER 16. 1860 -” and “38 W.C.F.” near the receiver. The top tang of the receiver is marked “MODEL 1873” with decorative scrolls, and the lower tang displays the serial number “467102B.” A brass loading gate on the underside is engraved “38 CAL.” accompanied by 29 visible tally marks.
Condition report:
The rifle exhibits significant age and use. Most of the original bluing on the metal surfaces has been replaced by a dark brown/grey patina, with evidence of surface wear, scratches, and some minor pitting. The wooden components show numerous dents, scratches, and dings consistent with historical use, though appearing structurally sound.
