Lot 458:
Description
A framed rifle cartridge display board by Tatonka Cartridge Company, often titled ‘Popular Rifle Cartridges of the U.S.’. This modern display features an organized collection of various rifle cartridges, primarily composed of brass casings and differing projectile types, meticulously arranged in three horizontal rows against a dark green velvet or felt-like background. The collection is enclosed within a light-colored wooden frame, likely oak, under a clear protective panel. Each cartridge is accompanied by a small circular label identifying its caliber and manufacturer, with examples including ‘.223 REM’, ‘.243 WIN’, ‘.30-06 SPRG’, and ‘.338 WIN MAG’. A brass-toned medallion bearing the U.S. Department of the Interior seal and the date ‘1849’ is affixed in the bottom right corner. The reverse of the frame features a stamp for ‘Tatonka Cartridge Company’ of Crawford, TX, and a sticker marked ‘LA-27’.
Condition report:
The cartridges are in excellent, clean condition, typical of display items. The wooden frame exhibits minor surface wear consistent with age and handling. The clear protective panel is intact.
