Description
A Marlin Safety Model CAL .44 W lever-action rifle, predominantly constructed of blued steel for the barrel, receiver, and various hardware, contrasted by dark reddish-brown wooden furniture for the stock and forend. The barrel is marked “MARLIN FIRE-ARMS CO. NEW-HAVEN. CT. U.S.A.” and “PATENTED OCT. 11. 1887. APRIL. 2. 1889.”. The left side of the receiver bears the “MARLIN SAFETY” marking, and the serial number “86833” is visible on the underside of the receiver.
Condition report:
The rifle shows signs of moderate use and age. There is visible wear and scratches on the blued finish of the metal components, consistent with handling and age. The lacquered surface of the wooden stock and forend also exhibits wear and scratches.
