Description

An antique Colt 1862 Pocket Navy Cartridge Conversion Revolver, originally .36 caliber and subsequently converted to .38 caliber. This six-shot revolver features a blued steel barrel and frame, complemented by an engraved cylinder. It is fitted with a brass trigger guard and backstrap, and smooth wooden grips. The barrel is marked “COLT’S PT. F. A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD. CT. U. S. A.”. The frame below the cylinder bears the cartridge conversion patent dates: “PAT. JULY 25. 1871.” and “PAT. JULY 2. 1872.”. The trigger guard is marked “36 CAL”, reflecting its original percussion caliber. The cylinder is marked “COLT’S PATENT 5305” and displays a faint engraved scene. The serial number “5305” is consistently stamped on the bottom of the grip and inside the trigger guard.


Condition report:

Good to very good condition. The blued steel components exhibit minor finish wear, consistent with age and handling. The brass trigger guard and backstrap have developed a pleasing, natural patina. The smooth wooden grips show minor surface marks. Mechanical action is functional. Bore condition not assessed.
