Belknap H. & Mfg. Co. 'Blue Grass' Antique Double Barrel Exposed Hammer Shotgun, 30" Barrel,
Description
An antique side-by-side, exposed-hammer double-barreled shotgun by Belknap H. & Mfg. Co., featuring their ‘Blue Grass Trade Mark.’ The barrels measure 30 inches and display a ‘FINE DAMASCUS’ pattern, now largely obscured by heavy patina, surface rust, and wear. The steel receiver and other metal components exhibit significant finish loss and pitting. Visible markings on the left side of the receiver include ‘BELKNAP H. & MFG. CO.’ and ‘BLUE GRASS TRADE MARK.’ Further markings on the top of the barrels near the breech show ‘2 H,’ ‘U,’ and a small ‘F.’ The wooden stock and fore-end are notably worn with numerous scratches and dents. The buttstock is shattered in the wrist where it joins the receiver. The butt plate is present but shows wear and damage around the screw holes.
Condition report:
Fair to poor condition, indicative of considerable age and extensive use. The barrels have a heavy patina, surface rust, and wear, largely obscuring the Damascus pattern. The steel receiver and other metal components show significant finish loss and pitting. The wooden stock and fore-end are heavily worn with numerous scratches and dents. The buttstock is shattered at the wrist where it meets the receiver. The butt plate is worn and damaged around the screw holes. Mechanical functionality is not guaranteed and should be assessed by a qualified expert.
