Description
A Marlin Model 1893 lever-action rifle, featuring a blued steel construction with dark stained wood for both the buttstock and fore-end. The receiver tang is marked ‘MODEL 1893’, while the receiver bears the ‘MARLIN SAFETY’ inscription. The barrel is stamped ‘MARLIN FIRE-ARMS CO. NEW-HAVEN, CT, U.S.A.’ along with patent dates ‘OCT. 11, 1887, APRIL 2, 1889, AUGUST 1, 1893’. Further barrel markings include ‘SPECIAL SMOKELESS STEEL’ and the caliber ’32 H.P.S.’. The serial number ‘241877’ is present on the underside of the receiver.
Condition report:
The rifle is in well-used condition, consistent with its age. It exhibits significant loss of original blued finish, widespread surface oxidation, and minor pitting on metal components. The wooden buttstock and fore-end show numerous scratches, dents, and wear marks.
