82 Rounds of Vintage Pistol Ammunition: Remington UMC .32 S&W Long Black Powder and French 7.65L Cartridges
Description
This lot comprises 82 rounds of vintage pistol cartridges presented in two period boxes. The lower box is a vintage green Remington UMC cardboard container, marked ‘R170′ on its side, for ’50 CENTRAL FIRE CARTRIDGES .32 S. & W. LONG’. It is specified as ‘BLACK POWDER’ with ’98 GRS. BULLET’ and bears an ‘Oilproof’ sticker. The box also notes it is ‘SPECIALLY ADAPTED FOR .32 SMITH AND WESSON HAND EJECTOR, COLT POLICE POSITIVE AND OTHER ARMS’. This box is open, revealing 50 brass-cased cartridges with ‘UMC 32 S&WL’ headstamps and visible grey lead round-nose bullets. The upper box is a beige cardboard container marked with a handwritten ‘3.98’ and text including ’32 CARTOUCHES de 7,65 L. pour pistolets’ (32 Cartridges of 7.65L for pistols) and ‘CAL .32 FRENCH LONG PISTOL CARTRIDGES’. Internal component dates are noted as ‘4-51’ for ‘ETUIS ACIER’ (steel casings) and ‘BALLES ACIER’ (steel bullets), and ‘A.VE LOT 9-52’.
Condition report:
Both cardboard boxes exhibit significant wear, creasing, minor tears, fading, and some staining consistent with age. The visible cartridges appear largely unfired with expected brass tarnishing and lead oxidation.
