Description
This lot comprises 40 rounds of vintage Winchester Staynless Non-Mercuric .45-90 Winchester Smokeless Soft Point centerfire cartridges. The ammunition is presented in two vintage cardboard boxes, one of which is open to display its contents. The vibrant orange and yellow packaging identifies the manufacturer as Winchester Repeating Arms Co., New Haven, Conn., U.S.A., a Division of Western Cartridge Co. Each box is stated to contain 20 rounds of 300 Grain Bullets, with a catalog number K4512C. The boxes are marked “U.S.A. Patent Pending” and specify that they are “For Winchester Single Shot and Model 1886 Repeating Rifles.” The visible brass cartridges feature “W.R.A. Co. 45-90 W.C.F.” headstamps and are fitted with soft point lead or alloy bullets.
Condition report:
The cardboard boxes display significant wear, including tears, creases, and discoloration consistent with age and storage. The cartridges within appear tarnished but are generally intact.
