Description
A C. Allen & Co. .32 caliber single-shot derringer, patented March 7, 1865. This compact pistol features an exposed hammer, spur trigger, and a fixed barrel. The primary material is dark, heavily patinated metal, likely steel or iron. The grip comprises two dark brown wooden panels, secured by a single brass-colored escutcheon and screw on each side. Clearly visible markings on the left side of the frame read “C. ALLEN & CO. WORCESTER MASS.” and “ALLEN’S PAT. MAR. 7. 1865.”
Condition report:
Fair antique condition. Metal surfaces exhibit heavy patination, widespread surface wear, and pitting, with significant loss of original finish. Wooden grip panels show handling wear, minor dents, and some loss of original varnish. Mechanical function not tested.
