Winchester Model 1890 .22 W.R.F. Pump-Action Rifle with Octagonal Barrel
Description
A Winchester Model 1890 .22 W.R.F. pump-action rifle, dating to the late 19th or early 20th century. This vintage rifle is constructed from steel with wood furniture, featuring an octagonal steel barrel, a round tubular magazine, a steel receiver, trigger guard, and crescent buttplate, alongside a wooden stock and a ribbed wooden fore-end. Markings on the barrel include “MADE IN U.S.A. WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN, CONN. PAT. JUNE 26.88. DEC. 6.92. NOV.27.06. MAY 30.11.” and “-MODEL 90-.22 W.R.F.”. A “WP” proof mark in an oval is present near the receiver. The left side of the receiver/tang is marked “WINCHESTER MODEL 1890 PAT. JUNE 26-08. DEC. 6-92.”. The serial number “O 56995” is visible on the underside.
Condition report:
The rifle is in visibly used condition. Metal components show considerable loss of original finish, surface wear, light pitting, and oxidation. The wood stock and fore-end exhibit numerous scratches, dents, and general wear consistent with age and use.
