Lot 39:
Description
19th Century portraits of young women on porcelain plaques. Both women look off to one side, their heads bowed in the traditional style of the time. Each holds their hands against their chest, one holding roses up against flowing robes. The other with her hands softly folded over one another where her cape is hooked. While the portraits are different in concept both feature blue ribbons and flowers as prominent assets for the young women.
The portraits are framed in stark contrast against a red velvet and gold painted fame.
Both plaques measure 8 x 6 in
Condition- slight wear to plaques with one scratch on the left portrait in the middle to the young woman’s left. The frame is in good condition.
