Description

A Colt Robert E. Lee Commemorative .36 caliber percussion revolver, crafted in the style of a 19th-century design, dated Nineteen Seventy One. The revolver features a blued barrel inscribed with “ROBERT E. LEE COMMEMORATIVE – NINETEEN SEVENTY ONE” and “ADDRESS SAML COLT NEW-YORK CITY”. The frame exhibits vivid case-hardening, complemented by polished wooden grip panels. Its six-shot cylinder is engraved with a naval battle scene and marked “COLTS PATENT N° 711 Engraved by W.L. Ormsby New York”. Silver-colored metal forms the trigger guard and butt strap, the latter stamped “711”, a number also observed on the frame and barrel wedge. The revolver is presented with its fitted wooden display case, which features “ROBERT E. LEE COMMEMORATIVE NINETEEN SEVENTY ONE” and a Colt rearing horse logo on the lid. The interior of the case is fitted with a light-colored fabric lining and contains a brass and case-hardened loading tool, a relief-decorated pewter-tone powder flask, and a small round tin labeled “RILEY BROS. CAPS. COLTS PISTOL.”. A black fabric gun sock is also included.
