Description
A Winchester Model 1892 lever-action repeating rifle. Constructed from blued steel and featuring a dark wooden stock and fore-end, likely walnut. The barrel is marked “MANUFACTURED BY THE WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN, CONN. U.S.A. PATENTED OCTOBER 14, 1884.” The tang bears “MODEL 1892” and “-WINCHESTER- TRADE MARK REG. IN U.S. PAT. OFF.” The caliber is indicated as “32 W.C.F.” on the barrel. The underside of the magazine tube is marked “PAT. JUNE 6.1893”. Multiple “WP” (Winchester Proof) marks are also present.
Condition report:
The rifle exhibits significant wear consistent with age and use. Substantial loss of original bluing and case hardening is evident. Scattered pitting and surface oxidation are present on metal parts. The wooden components show numerous dents, scratches, and finish wear.
