Description
A Smith & Wesson Model 61 Escort .22 LR semi-automatic pistol. This compact pistol features a blued metal finish and mottled dark brown synthetic grip panels with a checkered pattern. Markings on the left side of the slide read “SMITH & WESSON,” with additional text on the frame below indicating “MADE IN U.S.A. MARCAS REGISTRADAS SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD. MASS.” The right side of the slide is marked “II .22 LONG RIFLE CTG. II,” denoting its caliber, and the frame exhibits a circular “S&W” Trade Mark with “REG. U.S. PAT. OFF.” A safety lever on the left grip panel is marked “S” (Safe) and “F” (Fire). A partial serial number “00343” and “M & S” are visible on the magazine base. The pistol is accompanied by a worn red and black faux leather zippered case.
Condition report:
The pistol exhibits significant finish wear, numerous scratches, and some areas of surface oxidation on its metal components. The bluing is largely worn, particularly on edges and high points. The mottled dark brown synthetic grip panels are scuffed but remain intact with their checkered pattern visible. The accompanying red and black faux leather zippered case shows considerable wear, scuffs, and some fraying consistent with age and use.
