Description
A vintage Western Super-X 12 GA. 2 3/4 inch Long Range Shotgun Shells with Rifled Slugs, manufactured by Western Cartridge Company. This lot comprises two live shells and their original vintage cardboard box. The box is predominantly yellow with red borders and black text, identifying the contents as containing “Progressive Burning Smokeless Powder” and “NON-CORROSIVE PRIMERS.” It lists “WESTERN CARTRIDGE COMPANY, East Alton, Ill., U. S. A.” as the manufacturer, with additional markings “REG. U. S. PAT. OFF, MARCA REG., MARQUE DEPOSEE” and product code “S415.” The two individual shells feature brass bases and orange paper/cardboard bodies, with visible text “SUPER-X”, “LONG RANGE LOAD”, and “STATES PATENT NO. 1.757.584”.
Condition report:
The cardboard box is in poor condition, exhibiting significant wear, tears, creasing, and discoloration consistent with age and storage. The individual shells show heavy tarnishing, corrosion, and faded labels.
