Description
A Savage 1899 Model lever-action rifle featuring a 24″ barrel. The rifle has a blued steel barrel and receiver, with a polished metal lever. The stock and forend are crafted from reddish-brown hardwood, exhibiting checkered panels. It is fitted with a rear tang sight, a front blade sight, and sling swivels. Markings on the barrel include “MANUFACTURED BY SAVAGE ARMS CORP. UTICA, N. Y. U. S. A.” followed by patent dates ranging from July 25, 1893, to June 1, 1909. Additional barrel markings read “HI-PRESSURE STEEL” and “SAV. .300” indicating the caliber. The receiver is marked “SAVAGE 1899 MODEL.” The buttstock is fitted with an ‘ALL PURPOSE’ patented rubber or synthetic recoil pad, which displays carved geometric patterns accented with red and green painted stripes. The foregrip has a crack in the right side.
Condition report:
Fair to good condition. Visible wear, scratches, and finish loss are present on both the blued metal components and the wooden stock and forend, consistent with age and use. The foregrip has a crack in the right side.
