Winchester Model 72 Bolt Action Rifle, .22 S/L/LR
Description
A Winchester Repeating Arms Co. Model 72 bolt action rimfire rifle, chambered for .22 Short, Long, and Long Rifle ammunition. The rifle features a dark blued steel barrel, receiver, and tubular magazine. It is fitted with a reddish-brown wooden stock and fore-end, terminating in a black, molded buttplate. Visible barrel markings read “MADE IN U.S.A. WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. – MODEL 72-22 SHORT – NEW HAVEN CONN. – PATENT PENDING – LONG AND LONG RIFLE.” The buttplate is embossed with “WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO.” The rifle is equipped with a fixed blade front sight and an adjustable peep rear sight.
Condition report:
The rifle is in good condition for its age, displaying typical wear consistent with regular use. This includes thinning of the bluing on metal components, minor surface scratches and small indentations on the wooden stock and fore-end, and some light patination on metal surfaces.
