Description
A Marlin N° 27-S pump-action rifle, chambered in .32-20 caliber, featuring a 24″ barrel. Constructed from blued steel and dark-stained wood, it is equipped with a tubular magazine below the barrel and a ribbed wooden forend. The rifle features adjustable open sights and a plain metal buttplate. Visible markings on the barrel read “The Marlin Firearms Corporation, NEW HAVEN, CONN. U.S.A.” and patent dates “MAR. 24. 1908. JULY 11. 1911.”, with “SPECIAL SMOKELESS STEEL” also present near the breech. The model designation “Marlin N° 27-S” is stamped on the tang, along with the serial number “880”. A small brass-colored ring is inlaid into the right side of the buttstock. There is a small crack in the buttstock.
Condition report:
The metal surfaces exhibit significant bluing loss, a mottled brown patina, and scattered surface rust or light pitting, particularly on the receiver. The buttstock and forend show considerable wear, including scratches, dents, and finish loss. A small crack is present in the buttstock. The wood otherwise appears structurally intact. Overall, in fair to good antique condition consistent with age and use.
