Description
This lot comprises three vintage cardboard boxes of small-caliber rimfire ammunition, totaling 150 rounds. The top box, from THE U.M.C. CO. UNION METALLIC CARTRIDGE CO., is marked “RIM FIRE CARTRIDGES” and features a predominantly red and green design. The bottom left yellow and green box contains “50 .22 CAL RIFLE SMOKELESS CARTRIDGES” by WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN, CONN. U.S.A., specified as “UNGEASED BULLETS” for “TARGET AND SPORTING PURPOSES”. The bottom right yellow box holds “50 .22 SHORT R.F. SMOKELESS CARTRIDGES” from Remington UMC REMINGTON ARMS COMPANY, illustrating a rifle and recommended for Remington Repeating Rifles. The visible contents, brass and lead rimfire cartridges, are marked with ‘H’ or ‘U’ headstamps and appear neatly arranged within the open boxes.
Condition report:
The cardboard packaging exhibits significant age-related wear, including fading, tearing, and discoloration consistent with its vintage nature. The visible cartridges are in good, largely intact condition with minor patination.
