Description
This is an early Mathau Arms & Weatherby left hand bolt-action sporting rifle, featuring a classic design. It has a rich, dark-stained wooden Monte Carlo stock with finely checkered forend and pistol grip, and a black rubber recoil pad marked “White Line Pachmayr”. The metal components, including the long tapered barrel, receiver, and bolt, exhibit a blued finish. Markings on the receiver include “MATHIEU ARMS CO.”, “1453”, and “L-201”. The barrel is clearly marked “.300 WBY. WEATHERBY SOUTH GATE CALIF.”, indicating the caliber and a manufacturer location. The hinged floor plate is embellished with scroll engraving surrounding the text “WEATHERBY CUSTOM”. Two-piece scope bases are present on the receiver.
Condition report:
Very good overall condition, exhibiting minor scuffs and surface wear consistent with use. No significant damage observed.
