Vintage Box of 50 Rounds Remington UMC .38 Long Colt Smokeless Ammunition
Description
A vintage rectangular cardboard box of Remington UMC .38 Long Colt Smokeless ammunition, containing 50 central fire cartridges. The exterior labels, printed in English, clearly state “.38 LONG COLT SMOKELESS,” “50 CENTRAL FIRE CARTRIDGES,” and identify the manufacturer as “The REMINGTON ARMS UNION METALLIC CARTRIDGE Company, UMC BRIDGEPORT WORKS, BRIDGEPORT, CONN. U.S.A.,” specifying “148 GRS. BULLET.” Further text notes it is “SPECIALLY ADAPTED FOR .38 COLT DOUBLE ACTION AND OTHER ARMS,” and includes a Remington script logo with a running horse. The box is wrapped in a faded plaid-patterned paper. Upon opening, 49 brass-cased cartridges with lead bullets are neatly arranged, with one additional cartridge placed horizontally; their headstamps visible as “REM-UMC .38 LONG COLT.”
Condition report:
The cardboard box exhibits significant wear, creasing, tears, discoloration, and some paper loss, particularly on the sides. The plaid-patterned paper wrapping is faded. The 50 cartridges show expected signs of age, including tarnish and minor oxidation to the brass casings and lead bullets, but remain complete and intact within the box.
