Description
A Winchester Model 1894 lever-action repeating rifle, chambered in .30 W.C.F. (Winchester Center Fire, also known as .30-30). The rifle features a blued or parkerized steel barrel and receiver, paired with a wooden stock and fore-end. The barrel is clearly marked “MANUFACTUREED BY THE WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN. CONN. U. S. A. PATENTED AUGUST 21. 1894.”, “NICKEL STEEL BARREL”, and “ESPECIALLY FOR SMOKELESS POWDER”, along with the caliber “30 W.C.F” and a “W” in an oval proof mark. The serial number “344167” is visible on the underside of the receiver. An adjustable tang sight, consistent with the period, is mounted on the rear of the receiver.
Condition report:
The rifle displays extensive wear and surface loss to the metal components, with scratching, areas of patina, and light surface rust present on the barrel and receiver. The wooden stock and fore-end exhibit numerous dents, scratches, and areas of finish loss, consistent with age and regular use. Mechanical condition has not been assessed.
