Description
An antique Peabody repeating rifle, featuring a falling-block action and a largely octagonal steel barrel. The receiver is marked “PEABODY REPEATING / RIFLES. BOSTON. MASS. / PAT’D. JULY 20. 1862 / MANF’D. BY.” and bears the serial number “19331.” Faint markings on the barrel appear to read “B. BIGELOW / NASHVILLE. OHIO.” The rifle is fitted with a wooden stock and includes a wooden ramrod. It features a 30″ BARREL.
Condition report:
The item is in well-used condition, showing extensive patination, surface rust, and pitting on metal components. The wooden stock exhibits numerous dents, scratches, finish loss, and visible cracks or splits, including a significant CRACK IN WOOD STOCK. The BORE IS IN POOR RUSTY CONDITION.
