A Colt 2nd Model No. 2 Derringer, .41 Rimfire. This compact, single-shot pistol features a derringer-style design with a metal frame and barrel, originally nickel or silver-plated, and dark, checkered wooden grips. The design incorporates an exposed hammer and a tip-up barrel mechanism. The frame is adorned with engraved scrollwork. The barrel is marked with a partial inscription, likely “COLT’S PAT. F.A. MFG. CO”, followed by “HARTFORD CT. U.S.A.”, and “NO. 2”, flanked by stylized cross symbols. The serial number “4248” is visible on both the barrel and the butt of the grip.
