3 Unmarked Vintage Leather Scabbards
Description
This lot comprises three vintage or antique firearm scabbards, expertly crafted from thick, dark brown leather. Designed to encase rifles or shotguns, two scabbards feature robust stitching, metal buckles, and riveted straps for secure closure and attachment, while the third is a simpler, stitched sleeve. The leather shows considerable signs of age and extensive use, including prominent scuffs, scratches, dirt accumulation, and areas of drying and discoloration, with the lowest scabbard also exhibiting subtle decorative tooling on its wider end. No discernible manufacturer’s marks or text are visible on any of the items.
Condition report:
Presented in fair to poor, well-used condition consistent with their likely historical application. The leather exhibits considerable signs of age and extensive use, including prominent scuffs, scratches, dirt accumulation, and areas of drying and discoloration. Stitching is largely intact but shows wear. Metal buckles and rivets on two scabbards show oxidation and surface wear. The third scabbard, a simpler stitched sleeve, shows similar signs of age and use.
