Lot 86:
Description
A vintage Remington Kleanbore Express ‘.32 Remington Blue Train’ ammunition box, containing 20 cartridges. The cardboard box, featuring a dark green, white, and red color scheme, is adorned with two stylized steam locomotive illustrations, characteristic of early to mid-20th-century packaging. This ‘Kleanbore’ branding indicates a post-1926 manufacture. Visible text on the box details the contents as “NON-CORROSIVE,” “NON-EROSIVE,” “20 CENTRAL FIRE,” and “SMOKELESS CARTRIDGES,” specifically intended for Remington rifle models 30 Express, 8 Auto Loading, and 14 Repeating. Trademark registrations are noted in English, Spanish (“MARCA. REG.”), and French (“MARQUE, DÉPOSÉE”), alongside a guarantee statement on the bottom. A handwritten “494 cal” is present on the front, and a partial red stamp “10 23 18” is visible on the bottom. The box contains 20 brass cartridges with “REM. UMC .32 REM.” headstamps, 165 Grains Mushroom Bullet.
Condition report:
The cardboard box is in fair to poor vintage condition, exhibiting significant wear, fading, creasing, discoloration, and minor tears, particularly along edges and corners. The 20 brass cartridges appear generally well-preserved with age-appropriate tarnishing.
