Description
An antique Colt 1877 Thunderer .41 Double Action Revolver. This six-shot revolver features a prominent external hammer and reddish-brown stained wooden grips. Markings on the barrel include “COLT D.A. 41” and “HARTFORD. CT. U.S.A.”. The frame is stamped with patent dates “PAT. SEPT. 19, 1871.”, ” ” ” 5, 1872.”, and ” ” ” JAN. 19, 1875.”. The serial number “50830” is clearly visible on both the butt of the frame and the cylinder.
Condition report:
The metal components display a dark grey, heavily patinated finish with widespread surface wear, scattered pitting, and areas of oxidation. The wooden grips show scratches and minor abrasions. Mechanical function is untested and not guaranteed.
