Description

A Brooklyn Arms Co. Slocum Patent .32 caliber pocket revolver, dated April 14th, 1863. This antique firearm features a brass or bronze open-top frame, intricately adorned with scrollwork engraving on both sides. The six-shot fluted cylinder and barrel are crafted from blued steel. It is fitted with dark, smooth wooden grip panels, secured by a single screw and escutcheon. The design includes an exposed hammer and an under-barrel rammer, characteristic of the Slocum’s unique side-loading or sliding sleeve mechanism. The barrel is clearly marked “B. A. Co. PATENT APRIL 14TH 1863,” and the serial number “4019” is visible on the top strap.

Condition report:

Good antique condition. The brass frame exhibits a rich, aged patina with minor surface wear consistent with historical use. The blued steel components, including the barrel and cylinder, show wear and loss to the original finish, revealing areas of grey patination, also consistent with age and use. The scrollwork engraving remains clear. The wooden grip panels are smooth with minor handling marks and a well-preserved finish. All visible mechanisms appear complete.
