Description
A Winchester Model 1873 lever-action rifle, featuring a blued steel octagonal barrel and receiver, complemented by dark stained wooden buttstock and forend, and a visible brass carrier block on the underside. Markings on the barrel read “WINCHESTER’S REPEATING ARMS, NEW HAVEN, CONN. U.S.A.” and “-KING’S IMPROVEMENT PATENTED MARCH 29. 1866. OCTOBER 16. 1860-.” The caliber is marked “38 C.F.” on the barrel, consistent with .38 W.C.F. A serial number “372784” is present on the tang.
Condition report:
The rifle exhibits significant wear consistent with its age and use. Metal surfaces show a dark patina and substantial loss of original bluing. Wooden components have numerous scratches, dings, and areas of finish degradation.
