Description
A Colt M16 full-automatic rifle, serial number 905044A, manufactured by Colt’s Firearms Division, Colt Industries, Hartford, Conn., U.S.A. This early production military-style rifle is constructed from dark gray phosphated or blued metal components and black synthetic furniture, including a fixed stock, pistol grip, and triangular handguards. The lower receiver is marked ‘COLT M16’ in ‘CAL. 5.56VV’ (likely 5.56mm), with serial number ‘905044A,’ and ‘COLT’S FIREARMS DIVISION, COLT INDUSTRIES, HARTFORD, CONN., U.S.A.’ The selector switch is distinctly marked ‘SAFE,’ ‘SEMI,’ and ‘AUTO,’ confirming its full-automatic capability. The barrel features a birdcage flash hider and is marked ‘C. MP CHROME BORE’ (Colt’s Magnetic Particle inspected, Chrome Bore).
