Description
A vintage Remington Model 8 semi-automatic rifle, characterized by its blued steel construction and full-length wooden stock and forend. The rifle features a fixed box magazine and its design, along with visible patent dates, firmly places it within the early 20th-century period. Key markings include “REMINGTON UMC TRADE MARK” on the buttplate and grip, “MODEL 8” on the barrel, accompanied by “REMINGTON ARMS-UNION METALLIC CARTRIDGE CO. REMINGTON WORKS. ILION, N.Y. U.S.A.” and several Browning patent dates ranging from October 1900 to February 1911. The receiver is marked “35 REM” indicating the caliber, “SAFE” on the safety lever, and bears proof marks such as “R.E.P.” in an oval, as well as the serial number “48753”.
Condition report:
The rifle appears to be in good, used condition, exhibiting wear to the bluing and numerous surface scratches, scuffs, and minor dents on the wood furniture, all consistent with its age and use. No significant structural damage or active corrosion is readily apparent.
