This is a late 19th-century Marlin Model 1893 lever action rifle, constructed with a wooden stock and fore-end, a blued steel octagonal barrel, and a metallic receiver. The receiver is marked "MODEL < 1893 >", "MARLIN SAFETY", and bears the serial number "423568". The barrel features markings including "MARLIN FIRE-ARMS CO. NEW-HAVEN, CT. U.S.A.", "PATENTED. OCT. 11. 1887. APRIL 2, 1889. AUGUST 1. 1893.", "< SPECIAL SMOKELESS STEEL >", and ".32-W.P.S.".


Condition report:

Fair condition, consistent with age and extensive use. The wooden stock and fore-end exhibit numerous dents and scratches. The metallic receiver shows a mottled grey patina with surface wear and minor pitting. The bluing on the octagonal barrel is significantly faded. Mechanical function not tested.
