Description
A W.W. Greener 12 gauge double-barreled exposed-hammer shotgun, manufactured in London & Birmingham, featuring 30″ barrels. The shotgun features side-by-side barrels, a wooden stock and forend with checkered grip panels. The metal components display a dark, aged patina with significant finish loss, revealing underlying steel and remnants of case hardening on the receiver. Visible markings include “W.W. GREENER” and “LONDON. & BIRMINGHAM.” on the receiver side plate. Proof marks on the barrel flats include “CHOKE” with numbers “180” and “181”, a “12” gauge designation, and the serial number “72900”. Belgian proof marks are also present, including a crowned “ELG” in an oval, a crowned “V”, and a ‘q’ in a square, indicating a Liege date code.
Condition report:
Fair to good antique condition. The metal components exhibit a dark, aged patina with significant finish loss, exposing underlying steel. Remnants of case hardening are visible on the receiver. The wooden stock and forend show expected wear, surface discoloration, and minor handling marks consistent with age and use. Mechanically untested; sold as a collector\'s item.
