WWI German 9mm Luger Ammunition Box with 16 Cartridges, Dated 1918
Description
A WWI German 9mm Luger ammunition box, small and rectangular, constructed from cardboard with metal corner reinforcements. The box is sealed with a tattered, light gray fabric strip. A faded paper label, printed in Fraktur script, is affixed to the top, identifying the contents as “16 scharfe Pistolenpatronen 08” (16 sharp pistol cartridges 08). The label also states it was “Gefertigt am 7. Oktober 1918 Mfc.” (Manufactured on 7. October 1918 Mfc.). Further markings include “B. B. R. (2703) 2. 2./16. 3dh. 17 Sp” and “Hülsen T. Gesch. C. og.” (Casings T. Projectiles C. og.).
Condition report:
The box exhibits significant age-related wear, including visible discoloration, staining, and surface abrasions to the cardboard. The fabric seal is tattered, frayed, and shows signs of historical use. The metal corner reinforcements display oxidation and wear. The paper label is faded but remains legible.
