Lot 287:
Description
This russet-brown leather hip holster is accompanied by research materials that identify it as a U.S. military issue, designed for 4-inch .38 caliber revolvers, specifically the Colt Detective Special. The manufacturing period is indicated to be primarily between the 1940s and 1960s, with one document attributing manufacture to Hunter Corporation. The holster features a molded form, visible edge stitching, and a leather retention strap secured by a black metal snap button. An impressed mark ‘E.A.’ is visible near the snap on the holster’s exterior.
Condition report:
Used but well-preserved condition, with characteristic wear, scuffs, and darkening to the leather consistent with age and use. The stitching appears intact, and the snap button is functional.
