Description
An early Gustav Genschow & Co. (Geco) 9mm Steyr Sinoxid ammunition box, designed to hold 16 cartridges on stripper clips. The rectangular tan cardboard box features light green paper labels. The front label is printed with “16 Patronen für Selbstlade-Pistolen „Steyr“ 9m/m auf Ladestreifen Ganzmantel-Geschoss Gustav Genschow & Co., Aktiengesellschaft Durlach (Germany),” indicating 16 Full Metal Jacket cartridges for Steyr 9mm self-loading pistols, manufactured by Gustav Genschow & Co., Durlach (Germany). The reverse label prominently displays “SINOXID,” described as “der erste und einzige quecksilberfreie Zündsatz Rostfrei! Unerreicht lagerbeständig! Erosionssicher! Patente in allen Kulturstaaten,” highlighting its mercury-free, rust-free, stable, and erosion-proof primer technology. A side label features the “Geco” logo and “SINOXID” brand.
Condition report:
The box and its labels exhibit considerable age and wear. Visible discoloration, tears, and fraying are present on the paper labels. A small piece of string or fabric protrudes from the bottom edge.
