Description
An 18th Century Chippendale Mahogany Side Chair, crafted from a reddish-brown hardwood, exhibiting characteristics of the Chippendale style. It features a pierced splat back with vertical vase-shaped elements and elaborate scrolled carvings, front cabriole legs terminating in carved claw-and-ball feet, and straight rear legs connected by turned H-form stretchers. The drop-in seat is upholstered in a non-original floral fabric featuring roses and other blossoms on a light ground.
Condition report:
Fair condition. Wear consistent with age and use, including visible scuffs and abrasions to the finish. One lower stretcher is detached at a joint, requiring repair. The drop-in seat upholstery is non-original.
