Description
A vintage box of 50 Peters Cartridge Company .38 S. & W. Central-Fire cartridges. The cardboard box features green paper labels with early 20th-century utilitarian typography and graphics. The labels explicitly state “SOLID HEAD,” “15 Gr. Powder,” and “145 Gr. Bullet,” and indicate manufacture in “CINCINNATI, O., U. S. A.” Further text on the labels identifies them as “High Velocity, Low Pressure, Clean, Strong, Sure Fire and Accurate RIFLE CARTRIDGES” for “SPORTING AND TARGET PRACTICE” with “INSIDE LUBRICANT.” Inside, the box contains fifty metallic cartridges, each comprising brass casings and unjacketed lead bullets. The headstamps are clearly visible, marked “PETERS” and “.38 S&W.”
Condition report:
The cardboard box is in worn condition, exhibiting significant yellowing, creasing, tears, and discoloration consistent with age and handling. The green paper labels show wear, fading, and some minor losses. The metallic cartridges appear to be in good, aged condition with typical tarnishing on the brass casings.
