Description
A lot comprising 100 rounds of vintage Winchester “Super Speed” .257 Roberts center fire ammunition. The ammunition is housed in five vintage cardboard boxes, uniformly marked “WINCHESTER,” “TRADE MARK,” “SUPER SPEED,” “257 ROBERTS,” “20 CENTER FIRE CARTRIDGES,” “STAINLESS – NON-MERCURIC,” “MADE IN U.S.A.” The red and yellow packaging also states it is “FOR WINCHESTER MODELS 54 AND 70 AND OTHER ARMS DESIGNED FOR THIS CARTRIDGE.” Specific contents vary, with two boxes indicating “100 GRAIN HOLLOW POINT” (K 2520/K 2520°C) and one “87 GRAIN SOFT POINT” (W 2571). One box is visibly open and empty. The cartridges, seen in an open box, are brass-cased with copper-tipped projectiles, displaying “SUPER SPEED 257 ROBERTS W.R.A.” headstamps. A handwritten “GS” or similar marking is present on one box.
Condition report:
The cardboard boxes exhibit significant wear, creasing, and discoloration consistent with age. One box is open and empty. The visible cartridges appear in good, unfired condition with some surface tarnish.
