A single-action revolver, identified as a Colt Sheriff’s Model. The revolver features a blued barrel and cylinder, complemented by a vibrantly case-hardened frame. The grips are black hard rubber or plastic, molded with a checkered pattern and featuring the Colt rampant pony logo at the top and an eagle with a shield motif at the base. Markings on the barrel include “COLT SHERIFF’S MODEL”, “COLT SAA 44-40”, and “COLT’S PT.F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CONN. U.S.A.”. The cylinder is marked “44-40”. The frame displays patent dates: “PAT. SEPT. 19, 1871”, “JULY 2, 72 JAN. 19, 75”. The serial number “SA38690” is visible on the loading gate/frame.
