Lot 1536:
Description
An Allen and Thurber Six-Barrel Pepperbox Percussion Pistol. This antique pistol features a revolving cluster of six barrels, an exposed external hammer, and a simple trigger. It is constructed primarily from ferrous metal for the barrels, frame, hammer, and trigger mechanism. The grip is made of dark wood with fine checkering and includes a circular light-colored inlay on the top, likely ivory or bone. No manufacturer’s marks, text, or distinguishing engravings are currently visible.
Condition report:
The overall condition is heavily aged, consistent with its antique nature. Metal components exhibit significant surface rust, pitting, and deep patination. The wooden grip shows wear to its checkering and general signs of age and handling.
